I suppose you could say this is an issue driven story, but then too, it is also a good wank story.
The hero of the story tries to come to terms with the fact that he goofed, that his Outing was just simply him being careless.
We have all been there, and it can be very unpleasant. However, things can work out too, if we simply try to move forward, to try and make the best of things. That is what 18 year old Jeremy tries to do, as he recalls what led up to his mistake.

The Salmonella outbreak, due to contaminated tomatoes is a festering wound, that seems unresolved.
Like if you got sick, would you remember where you bought the tomatoes that put you in the Hospital? Yet the FDA says they have no where to send their inspectors, because well, they have no idea of where to look.

The story is one of my favorites, and I still get teary eyed when reading it, specially as I realize how society really isn’t improving. Being Gay is still not widely accepted, hell, in some countries it is even tolerated, unless you call hanging a sign of tolerance.
If you are looking for a story to get into, one that isn’t a two page jerk off piece, then I think you might enjoy reading The Secret.
